Sean Rizor joins Penta Career Center as the new Criminal Justice instructor, bringing more than 25 years of experience to the program. Rizor began his career working with several local and county departments, eventually joining the State of Ohio as an investigator, where he spent 20 years focusing on identity and auto theft-related crimes, including organized crime rings. In this role, he spent a great deal of his time assigned to the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Vehicle Theft and Fraud Unit. Working alongside local, state, and federal agencies, Rizor was successful in the recovery of millions of dollars in stolen vehicles and the identification, apprehension, and conviction of multiple suspects. He is a certified expert auto theft investigator and interview and interrogation and has provided expert testimony in proceedings at all court levels. Rizor is also certified in fraudulent document detection and he has trained many law enforcement officers and civilian government employees on how to detect fraudulent documents. Rizor also has experience working as a school resource officer, which gives him an edge for working with kids.
Rizor holds a bachelor’s degree of Science in Organizational Leadership with an emphasis in Law Enforcement Administration. He is a past Board Member, Treasurer, Assistant Director, and Director of the Ohio Auto Theft Investigators Association (OATIA) and a past Regional Director of the International Association of Auto Theft Investigators (IAATI) Northeast Chapter. He is the current secretary of the Fraternal Order of Police, Fremont Lodge #35. He has also served as a member of the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force with a top-secret security clearance. In his spare time, Rizor enjoys spending time with his family, fishing, camping, and vacationing in warmer climates. Rizor is looking forward to this new role in his career to help in the development of the next generation of those who want to make criminal justice their chosen profession. He has an open-door policy and looks forward to making a positive impact on the students.
